1. Introduction

Welcome to Dined Places ("the App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our mobile application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

By using Dined Places, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. About the App

Dined Places is a personal restaurant visit tracker that allows you to record and manage your dining experiences, including restaurant names, locations, spending, ratings and comments. All data is stored locally on your device.

Dined Places collects only the information you choose to enter. This includes:

• Restaurant names and details
• City and country of visit
• Date and time of visit
• Meal type and food/drink details
• Amount spent
• Personal ratings and comments
• Geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) when you use the Find on Map feature
• Backup export files created by you using the Export Data feature, stored in a location of your choosing

We do not collect any of the following:

• Your name or personal identity
• Email address or contact information
• Payment or financial account information
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Usage analytics or behavioral data
• Any data without your explicit input

5. How Your Data is Stored

All data you enter into Dined Places is stored exclusively on your device using a local SQLite database. Specifically:

• No data is transmitted to our servers
• No data is stored in the cloud
• No data is backed up externally without your action
• Your data remains on your device at all times
• If you uninstall the App, all your data is permanently deleted from your device

6. Location Data

Dined Places may request access to your device's location for the following purposes only:

• To display your current location on the map when using the Find on Map feature
• To assist in locating nearby restaurants

Location data is used solely within the App at the time of your request. We do not:

• Store your real-time location continuously
• Track your movements
• Share your location with any third party
• Use your location for advertising purposes

You can deny location access at any time through your device settings. The App will continue to function without location access, though the Find on Map feature will have limited functionality.

7. Third Party Services

Dined Places uses the following third party services solely to display maps within the App. These services may collect limited technical data such as IP address and tile request data in accordance with their own privacy policies:

• MapTiler — provides map tile imagery  ·  Privacy Policy
• OpenStreetMap — provides map data  ·  Privacy Policy
• Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) — provides location geocoding  ·  Privacy Policy

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent or share your personal data with any third party. Your dining data is yours alone and remains on your device.

The only exception is if you choose to use the Share feature within the App, which allows you to share restaurant details via messaging or email apps of your choice. This sharing is entirely at your discretion and initiated solely by you.

9. Advertising

Dined Places contains no advertising of any kind. We do not use advertising networks, display ads or use your data for advertising purposes.

10. Analytics

Dined Places does not use any analytics tools or collect any usage data. We do not track how you use the App.

11. Data Security

Since all your data is stored locally on your device, the security of your data depends on the security of your device. We recommend:

• Using a device passcode or biometric lock
• Keeping your device operating system up to date
• Regularly backing up your device using your device's built-in backup features

11a. Data Portability

Dined Places supports full data portability. You can:

• Export all your restaurant records at any time using the Export Data feature in the side menu
• Import previously exported records on any device using the Import Data feature
• Your exported data is in JSON format and contains all your restaurant records including names, cities, dates, amounts, ratings and comments

12. Your Rights and Data Deletion

You have full control over your data at all times. You can:

• Delete individual records — by swiping left on any restaurant entry in the App
• Delete all data — using the Delete All Records option in the side menu, or by uninstalling the App
• Export your data — using the Export Data feature in the side menu

Since we do not store any data on external servers, there is no data to request deletion of from us directly.

13. Children's Privacy

Dined Places is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used this App, please note that all data is stored locally on the device and can be removed by uninstalling the App.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any significant changes by updating the Last Updated date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
